Saint Joseph Hospital Emergency Medical Services

Founded in 1902, Saint Joseph Hospital located in Elgin, Illinois provides specialized and emergency care to the greater Elgin and Fox River Valley community. In 1995, Saint Joseph Hospital was recognized as a Resource Hospital, dedicated to providing high-quality patient care and pre-hospital education.

Our system is one of six EMS systems that are incorporated in Illinois Region IX. Together as a Region, we collaborate under the coordination of the Illinois Department of Public Health, to develop Standard Operating Procedures, Trauma Policies and Procedures, Standards of Practice, and Disaster Management for residents within portions of McHenry, Kane, and Cook Counties.

Training Opportunities at Saint Joseph Hospital

Paramedic Training Program

The Saint Joseph Hospital Paramedic Program received program accreditation in 2015 by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Dedicated to providing the community with paramedic training that is of the highest standard, we provide didactic and psychomotorinstruction, in conjunction with clinical education. Our paramedic program works in collaboration with Elgin Community College to offer our students the opportunity to earn college credit hours.
